A Gallup Poll shows that American’s trust in media is at an all time low. Only four in ten Americans said they had a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in the media in 2015, down’ from a high of 55% in 1999.
Trust in media is down the most among young people, with only 36% of those 18 to 49 saying they trust the media. Democrats tend to trust the media more at 55%, with Republicans and Independents at 32% and 33% respectively. Gallup says the findings of their poll are consistent with a general decline in trust of government institutions.
These findings should come as no surprise, given the Brian Williams scandal and the media’s response to the recent Democratic Debates where they declared Hillary Clinton the winner despite viewer polls heavily favoring Bernie Sanders.
